Yadav son rises, Congress scion fails

Samajwadi Party is emerging as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh by leading in 151 and winning 65 of the total 403 seats in the assembly. BSP, which had won an absolute majority with 206 seats in the 2007 polls, is leading in 62 seats and has won 26 seats.The Congress-RLD alliance

is ahead in 32 seats and won 8 seats while the BJP is leading in 35 seats and has won in in 11 seats.

Other political parties including independents are leading in 13 seats in UP.In 117-member Punjab assembly, Akali+ have won 64 seats and are leading in 3, Congress has won 45 seats and are leading in 2 while others are leading in 1 seats and have won 2 seats.

Uttarakhand is locked in a see-saw battle between the ruling BJP and Congress. Congress has won 17 seats and is leading in 16. BJP has won 21 seats and are leading in 9 seats. BSP wins two seats and is leading in 1 seat while others win 1 seat and are leading in three.

But in Manipur, Congress is set to sweep back to power for the third consecutive term. In 37 seats out of 60 declared, Congress has won in 27, leads in 11 while TMC has won 6 seats. Others have won 6 seats and are leading in 4.  

In 40-member Goa assembly, BJP+ has won 21 seats while Cong+ has won 8 seats. Goa Vikas Party (GVP) has won 2 seats and Independepts have won 5.

The results will end all the speculations on who will for the government in these states. Elections were held in a total of 690 assembly seats -- 403 in UP, 117 seats in Punjab, 70 in Uttarakhand, 60 in Manipur and 40 in Goa -- in a span of over a month
