Despite getting a strong assurance from the Congress high command, megastar-turned-politician Chiranjeevi seems to be not very confident that he would get the Rajya Sabha seat.
He is reluctant to talk about his Rajya Sabha nomination, as he feels there is always a slip between cup and lip.
“Anything might happen any time. So far, I have not got any indication from the high command about the Rajya Sabha nomination. Irrespective of whether I get the RS ticket or not, I will continue to work for the party sincerely,” he told the media in Tirupati on Monday.
Tension is mounting in the megastar as the notification for the Rajya Sabha elections was issued on Monday.
It is learnt Chiranjeevi has decided to stay away from the rest of the budget session of the assembly with Speaker Nadendla Manohar formally announcing that the Praja Rajyam Party was formally merged with the Congress and all the PRP legislators would now be treated as Congress MLAs.
If Chiranjeevi comes to the assembly, he would have to sit in the backbenches like any other Congress MLA, which he does not want. Since it is only a matter of a week to know the fate of his RS nomination, Chiranjeevi might have thought it is better to stay away from the assembly session.
