At a time when everybody is suspecting that YSR Congress party would pump in crores of rupees to woo the voters of Kovur assembly constituency in the last moment, the Nellore police made a sensational seizure of Rs 1 crore from the house of Telugu Desam Party leader and former corporator Om Prakash Yadav in the town.
The police suspect that the money was stored in Om Prakash’s house only to be distributed among voters of Kovur in the last two days before the polling. They are now questioning the TDP leader to find out the source of the money and are investigating whether the money was accounted for or not.
However, YSR Congress party leaders have alleged that the police had seized Rs 5 crore from the house of Om Prakash, but were showing only Rs 1 crore.
“The TDP is trying to purchase voters after realizing that it cannot win their confidence,” MLC S V Mohan Reddy said and demanded that TDP candidate in Kovur Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy be disqualified from contesting the by-elections.
