It's final now! Sonam Kapoor has been signed opposite Dhanush

Tuesday, 20 March 2012

It's final now! Sonam Kapoor has been signed opposite Dhanush in the actor's Bollywood debut, Raanjhnaa, to be directed by Aanand L Rai.

When quizzed about his choice, Rai reasons, "I was on the lookout for a lovely girl who would have the potential to play a small town girl with an edge - someone smart and upbeat. Sonam suits the character perfectly.

There was a date issue but now everything has been sorted out and she is doing the film. We start shooting in June. She is an honest actress who understands the character very well. She will have various looks in the film as she ages in the film from 17-25 years." Raanjhnaa is apparently set in Varanasi.

About acting with Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush says, "I really haven't thought too much about it. For me, it's the script and the character. I fell in love with Kundan and the script. I just can't wait to start being Kundan!"

In Kollywood, Dhanush's Bollywood project is being much-talked about as it is the actor's debut in the Hindi film industry. Very few south actors have managed to make it big in B-Town and post the phenomenal success of the actor's Kolaveri Di... song, all eyes here are on him.

Rajshree did the right thing: Sonam Kapoor

Thursday, 15 March 2012

Her co-star Abhay Deol did it during the promotions of Aisha, and now the film’s director Rajshree Ojha, too, has disowned the 2010 film. But lead actor Sonam Kapoor doesn’t mind. “I only look at it as a positive experience. It’s right for her to disown the film. It’s her right,” says the  26- year-old, reacting to Ojha’s recent statement — “Should I be politically correct and say since my name was on the credits of Aisha, it was my film? I had no control over the final cut.”

Describing her recent experiences at big ticket fashion events across the globe, Kapoor, who was in the Capital to inaugurate the Sahachari Foundation’s Design One 2012 exhibition, says, “It’s amazing to be invited to so many prestigious events and be the face of India in a way. It’s also a little bit of pressure because you have to represent a whole community.”

The actor was also invited to lunch by the Salvatore Ferragamo family in Florence. “They know so much about India. They had this amazing spread. They found out what my favourite flowers were and they lined it up around the place,” she said.
